Pharmacy technicians assist pharmacists in preparing and distributing medications, maintaining the drug inventory, and maintaining patient records.? Pharmacy technicians work only under supervision of a registered pharmacist.? They do not perform duties that can legally be performed only by a registered pharmacist.





  • Procures and distributes medication orders per physician request, pharmacist request, or prearranged work assignment according to established policies, procedures and protocols.

  • Maintains adequate stock of medications and supplies according to established policies and procedures.

  • Contributes to the effective operation of the department.

  • Participates in the quality improvement activities of the department.

  • Maintains competence required for current job title/position.

  • Performs other duties as assigned by supervisor.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills needed, able to communicate effectively (orally and written).

  • Can work cooperatively with health-system and pharmacy staff.

  • Able to perform work accurately with attention to detail within specified time periods.?

  • Can respond quickly to emergency requests.

  • Can set priorities and solve problems.

  • Familiar with professional and commercial phases of pharmacy, pharmacy laws, government regulations and proper purchasing techniques; familiar with hospital policies

  • Must be constantly alert to detect errors in prescriptions, dosage, and compounding

  • Use independent judgment following established guidelines and practices

  • Must have adequate finger dexterity and good eye-hand coordination

  • High degree of accuracy required in reading labels, measuring correct portions of drugs, weighing, and mathematical calculations

  • Ability to work long periods with frequent interruptions

  • Able to assist in meeting the pharmaceutical care needs of the populations served.?

  • Graduation
    from a recognized pharmacy technician program or on-the-job training with
    successful completion of National Certified Pharmacy Technician testing.

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
